ikoyi

Ikoyi has a long history as Lagos’s most prestigious community. Its prominence began during Nigerian’s colonial period because it housed many of Britain’s expatriate community. Its symbol as a ruling center can still be seen today with the existence of numerous government offices and residences. From colonial elite, to indigenous elite, Ikoyi has transformed itself to a bustling neighborhood and a symbol of wealth, luxury, and prestige in Lagos.
